fall fashion

It’s that time of the year. The kids are back to school, the weather is getting brisk, the leaves are starting to change, and the cider mills have opened.  That’s right, it’s autumn in Michigan!  And that means it’s time for fall fashion. Time to bring out those awesome sweaters, scarves, leather jackets, riding boots and all the fun accessories that make the fall such a unique time for fashion.

Because I fancy myself a fashionista, fashion geek, admitted shop-a-holic (call me whatever you want), I spent a week in New York for Fall Fashion Week. And of course, I did not want to come home. I love New York! There’s just so much energy in the Big Apple and when Fashion Week rolls into town, the place is just electric. This year’s show was no exception and I thought I would share some of the fall trends the designers showed in their collections.

PEPLUM
Peplum has been in for a while and it looks like it’s not going anywhere. Peplum originates from the Greek word for ‘tunic’ and refers to the short overskirt that is usually attached to a fitted jacket, blouse or dress. This trend was everywhere on the runway. Whether you are wearing it to work or a night out on the town, peplum will never fail to accentuate your body.

EMERALD GREEN
This seems to be the color of choice for designers this fall. From the runway right into your closet, you don’t have to be royalty to rock this classy color.

BLACK ON BLACK
Black is always a classic look, but this fall take it to the next level with leather pants and skirts and go head to toe in black on black. It’s classy, it’s chic and you cannot go wrong. Throw in your favorite colored accessories and you’ll look like you just stepped off the runway.
