Wish Upon A Teen is a national, nonprofit organization dedicated to providing resources, time and opportunities to teenagers with developmental or medical conditions. As we all know, the teen years are filled with challenges of self-identity, confidence and confusion about the future. The sometimes turbulent waters leading from childhood to adulthood can be very stressful. Teenagers facing physical or mental health challenges have an especially difficult time coping. The combination of normal teenage stress with the impact of chronic illness on self esteem can make the normal transition to adulthood difficult, delayed or impossible. Wish Upon A Teen aims to make a difference in the lives of these challenged teens.
This past Saturday, Wish Upon A Teen held their prom at the St. Regis Hotel in Detroit and One Salon was honored once again to do our part for these inspirational teens and this amazing organization. The prom is an annual event which provides these teens with a chance to forget about their disease and treatment for a night, and do what normal teenagers do. Thank you to our amazing team of designers: Abby Duncan, Lauren Lea, Jenny Martin, Cristina Gherghinis, Andrea McLaughlin, Ashley Gross, Lauren Wethington and Candice Schabestiel whom all volunteered their time to do make-up and event styles and get these young ladies ready for their big night.
